The economic crisis has a severe impact on children’s lives in Greece. Almost 50% of students, especially those residing in less-favored areas of the country are facing food insecurity. One out of six students is facing physical health problems and one out of four is facing emotional health problems.
Professor Athena Linos on “Parapolitika” 90,1 FM
Professor Athena Linos, Chair of the Department of Hygiene Epidemiology & Medical Statistics at Athens Medical School and President of Prolepsis Institute, gave an interview to the radio station Parapolitika 90,1 and discussed the issue of food insecurity in Greece and the DIATROFI Program on Food Aid and Promotion of Healthy Nutrition.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation announced a new grant in support of the Food Aid & Promotion of Healthy Nutrition Program “DIATROFI” during the current school year (2015-2016)
The SNF announces a new grant of €2.5 million, to help support the Food Aid & Promotion of Healthy Nutrition Program in public schools throughout Greece, during the current school year (2015-2016). While, €1 million out of the €2.5 is for direct support of the Program, the remaining €1.5 million is allocated as a matching grant.
The deadline for submitting tender offers regarding meals supplying under the “Food Aid and Promotion of Healthy Nutrition Program –DIATROFI” has been extended.
