World Health Day 2016 – Diabetes

Health is a fundamental inalienable right. The World Health Day 2016 is dedicated to the prevention and management of Type 2 diabetes. Globally, the prevalence of diabetes approximates 9% among adults, while almost 1.5 million deaths are attributed to diabetes and its complications annually. The World Health Organization anticipates that diabetes will evolve into the 7th leading cause of death by 2030.

PRAXIS & PRAXIS Educational Organisation supports the DIATROFI Program

We would like to thank PRAXIS & PRAXIS Educational Organisation and the parents of first and second grade students’ for their support to the DIATROFI Program. Thanks to their kind contribution and the matching funds provided by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, founding donor of the Program, 333 meals will be distributed to a public school in the region of Piraeus.

Study published on scientific journal on promotion of healthy nutrition through the Program DIATROFI

The study entitled “Promotion of healthy nutrition among students participating in a school food aid program: a randomized trial” conducted by D. Zota, A. Dalma, A. Petralias, A. Lykou, C-M. Kastorini, M. Yannakoulia, P. Karnaki, K. Belogianni, A. Veloudaki, E. Riza, R. Malik and A. Linou was published in the scientific journal International Journal of Public Health in March 2016.

On March 23rd Mrs. Athena Linos, Professor and Chair of Dept. of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics of Athens Medical School and Head of the Epidemiological study conducted in Oinofita, informed the Subcommittee on Water Resources of the Special Permanent Committee on Environmental Protection on Hexavalent chromium in drinking water.
