eu Families and Adolescents Quit Tobacco – euFAQT

European Commission: Public Health Program 2008- 2013

Prolepsis has participated in a project titled "eu Families and Adolescents Quit Tobacco – euFAQT". The 3-year project officially started on the 1st of November 2009. The project was co funded by the European Commission – Directorate of Health and Consumers while Prolepsis received financial support for the project from the Hellenic – KEELPNO.

The promotion of a healthier smoke free way of life for European adolescents and their families is the main objective of the euFAQT project. It aimed to complement EU policies on smoking by adding to the knowledge about smoking prevention and cessation in adolescents. It seeked to create a culture of prevention by promoting the benefits of smoke free environments, de-normalizing smoking and facilitating efforts for prevention and cessation.

Adolescents and their families were approached in key educational and entertainment settings and with their participation the project developed, implemented and evaluated innovative, evidence based and easily transferable interventions for the prevention of smoking and the enhancement of smoking cessation efforts.
