Professor Dimitris Linos on the “tax that saves lives”

On January 14, Greek newspaper “Kathimerini” published in its column “Readers’ Letters” a letter from Professor Dimitris Linos concerning the government’s decision to raise the price of tobacco products as an equivalent measure that substitutes the 25 patient entry ticket in public hospitals. In his letter, titled “The tax that saves lives”, Dr. Linos presents statistical evidence of the detrimental effects of smoking as well as specific results concerning the Greek population.
