Presentation of the National Dietary Guidelines

On Thursday, October 16 -World Food Day, the formal presentation and distribution of the National Dietary Guidelines begun.

An eight-volume collection that includes the work of 2 years of 40 Greek and foreign scientists. More specifically there are four volumes which are targeted at scientists as they contain scientific documentation and four that are targeted to the general public.

The National Dietary Guidelines are divided in 4 categories:
1.    Adults
2.    Infants, children and adolescents
3.    Women (pregnancy, lactation and menopause)
4.    Adults over the age of 65.

The National Dietary Guidelines were presented during four workshops that were held in Athens (16 October – Presentation of the Adults’ Guide and 17 October – Presentation of the Infants, children and adolescents Guide), Thessaloniki (October 20 – Presentation of the Women's Guide) and Patras (October 30 Presentation of the Adults over 65 Guide).

The guides had been printed in 6500 copies which were distributed to various agencies (ministries, universities, hospitals, schools, etc.) and all content is be accessible and printable on the website: www.diatrofikoiodigoi.gr .

During the four presentations, the scientists that have contributed to the creation of the National Dietary Guidelines presented their work to the public.
