David Xiang from Harvard University joined Prolepsis through the Politics Director’s Internship program

July 24, 2017

For one more year, Prolepsis was honored to welcome a young student from Harvard University’s Institute of Politics as a part of the Director’s Internship Program.

David Xiang is a rising sophomore at Harvard College, planning on majoring in History and Science. Through the Director’s Internship Program he joined Prolepsis from May to July 2017 and has been working on projects relating to the Program on Food Aid and Promotion of Healthy Nutrition – DIATROFI and the ASSET program (Action plan in Science in Society in Epidemics and Total pandemics) regarding risk communication in times of epidemics or pandemics.

David aims to pursue a career in medicine, but is also very interested in working in the fields of public health and policy. Back at Harvard, David hopes to continue public health research and also volunteer in the community on health and medicine related issues.

The Harvard Institute of Politics Director's Internship program has been offering career-oriented internships for undergraduate students interested in politics, government, and public service in high-profile organizations around the world for the past 20 years. This is the fifth year of Prolepsis participation in the program, with numerous students expressing interest in joining and working with the Institute.

"Being a Director's Intern at Prolepsis has been an amazing and inspirational experience, and I'm extremely honored to have been given this opportunity. The organization is composed of incredibly talented and kind people, and I have learned so much from everyone, regarding the public health issues that Prolepsis tackles but also about more intangible qualities such as collaboration and communication. I've gained invaluable professional and personal traits while working at Prolepsis, and I believe that my time here will help me further my education and personal career goals of giving back to my community and society." – David Xiang

We would like to thank David for his contribution and wish him the best of luck!
