Health and Safety of Pregnant and Breast-feeding women at work

Occupational exposure of pregnant and breast-feeding women in 4 categories of factors (a. physical, b. ergonomic, c. chemical, d. biological) was examined and control measures as a result of risk assessment was also offered. Recommendations for pregnant and breast-feeding women and their employers were developed so as to cover the following three cases: A pregnant or breast-feeding woman a) may continue to work without change, b) may continue to work but with certain modifications of the environment or activity, c) should not work. A relevant seven step action plan was devised for employers to follow.
