Prolepsis Institute at the annual General Council meeting of Eurohealthnet
The promotion of health equity is now more relevant than ever: The main conclusion of the General Council meeting of EuroHealthNet.
Prolepsis Institute, member of the European Partnership of Agencies and Organisations working for Health Improvement, EuroHealthNet, participated in the annual General Council that was held in Berlin, on June 11-13. The Health Promotion Specialist and Head of the Department of National Initiatives of Prolepsis, Dina Zota, presented the results of the educational visit that the Prolepsis Institute organized in Athens, in December 2013, titled “Health and Security in Work Environment – Health Promotion Activities”, where topics concerning occupational health and safety, national strategies and approaches related to this subject and the political context in Europe, were discussed.
EuroHealthNet’s members and partners, during the course of the work groups in Berlin, focused on the that were published earlier this month within the framework of the EU Semester, as well as the direction offered by the Social Investment Package. They explored how this can be used as a tool to promote work on the social determinants of health, develop integrated health system approaches and, ultimately, contribute to the development of health equity between and within EU countries.
Moreover, representatives from the European Commission (DG SANCO) and WHO Europe presented their strategies and work plans, and invited EuroHealthNet’s members and partners to continue their efforts to promote health in Europe.
Additionally, the newly elected President of the EuroHealthNet, Nicoline Tamsma, welcomed seven new members who are also involved in research and public health promotion. She emphasized the growing interest of European organizations joining the Partnership. Finally, EuroHealthNet’s new and updated website was presented.
