November 25, 2015

The main aim of the project IROHLA has been to develop guidelines for policy and practice to improve health literacy of the aging population. The European policy briefs were recently published on the webpage of the Health Literacy Centre Europe (HLCE): http://healthliteracycentre.eu/. The guidelines of the project IROHLA contain analysis of factors related to low health literacy in the EU and the problems connected to it, examples of good practices and effective interventions on health literacy using innovative methods, such as the e-health & the m-Health, scenarios and possible solutions (for example for low self-esteem problems, applications for the promotion of health literacy, developing of communication skills for health care professionals, services to promote health literacy) etc.

The guidelines are addressed to policy makers in the E.U. as well as public and private entities of the local government and health care professionals.
