Press Release: 6th Panhellenic Forum of Public Health and Social Medicine

Significant conclusions indicating the impact of social inequalities on Public Health were reached at the 6th Panhellenic Conference of the Forum for Public Health & Social Medicine which took place on October 31st and November 1st in the Main Building of the National and Kapodistrian University Athens.
 
According to the data presented at the conference, the socio-economic status is associated with chronic and infectious diseases, while the economic crisis is associated with increased mortality, mainly due to cardiovascular diseases, respiratory infections, chronic liver diseases, suicide and homicide and to increased infant mortality.
