October 12, 2023

The 5th Partners Meeting of the European program “CANCERLESS” took place in Athens on the 25 and 26th of September. Delegates from all participating organisations attended the meeting. The meeting was organised by Prolepsis Institute.

The progress and future steps of the project’s Work Packages were discussed alongside achievements and milestones that have been reached so far. The Health Navigator Model has been applied for more than a year in four Pilot Sites across Europe (Spain, Greece, Austria and the UK). During this year, more than 500 people who experience homelessness have entered the project and about 200 homeless people were offered a wide range of services and activities in relation to cancer prevention. These include cancer screening, smoking cessation sessions, exercise and nutrition workshops, etc.

In addition, interviews were conducted with Health Navigators and beneficiaries during the implementation of the project to get an in-depth understanding of their experiences with the Health Navigator Model. Future steps were discussed, focusing on the Evaluation of the Pilot Implementation Study. Defining the international standards of integrated care and developing integrated care pathways to inform current practices and policymakers were also discussed as part of project’s future steps.
