August 14, 2023

In July, the Prolepsis Institute participated in the briefing of undergraduate and graduate students from Harvard University as part of their migrant and refugee studies summer program in Greece this year. The program is organized by the François-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights with Executive Director Dr. Natalia Linos. The three-week interdisciplinary course is implemented in collaboration with the Refugee and Migration Studies Hub of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as well as with the support of the CHS Greece and CHS US.

This annual course was established in 2022 with the aim of engaging participants both conceptually and in practice with key issues related to contemporary forced migration.

Ms. Pania Karnaki, Director of European & International Programs of the Prolepsis Institute, informed the group of students about the current actions and programs implemented by the Institute in the following areas:

  • Ensuring equal access to vaccination for newly arrived immigrants (AcToVax4Nam program).
  • Improving access to HPV vaccination (RIVER-EU project).
  • Supporting the mental health of vulnerable populations (MENTALITY project, EU-MiCare program).
  • Educational and informative actions for Roma women on issues related to health promotion and prevention of gynecological problems (“Healthy and Strong Roma Women in Greece” project).
  • Improving the digital skills and competencies of immigrants in electronic health applications (MIG-Health Apps).
