Approximately one in three deaths <\/strong>of people experiencing homelessness are due to\u00a0 causes that can be overcome, with cancer being the second most common cause of death. Cancer mortality among the homeless population in high-income countries\u00a0 is twice as high compared to the general population.<\/p>\n

Currently, the CANCERLESS <\/strong>project is being piloted in the following countries: Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki), Austria, Spain and the United Kingdom. The purpose of the CANCERLESS program is to support the population of homeless people by providing better access to health care systems, supporting the prevention and early diagnosis of cancer and promoting public health actions ( access to sports facilities, nutrition seminars, smoking cessation sessions, etc.).<\/p>\n

The plan for the pilot application of CANCERLESS<\/strong> in all countries is under the supervision of the\u00a0 Prolepsis Institute scientific team. Also, the non-profit organization PRAKSIS<\/strong>\u00a0 is responsible for the implementation of the program in Greece.<\/p>\n
