\n\tTwo two-day seminars on “Cervical cancer control for hard-to-reach populations” are organized by the Institute of Preventive Medicine, Environmental and Occupational Health, Prolepsis, within the European program "Aurora – A European network on cervical cancer surveillance and control in the new Member States".<\/p>\n
\n\tThe seminars, which are of central importance for the Program, will be held on 15-16 February and 5- 6 April 2013, at the premises of Prolepsis Institute.<\/p>\n
\n\tAs part of the seminars, health care professionals and experts in advocacy will be trained on the methods of attracting women, especially women from socially excluded groups, such as migrants and Roma women, in order to get screened for cervical cancer and get informed about HPV. Employees and volunteers of the "Association of Volunteers Against Cancer AgkaliaZO” as well as health professionals from the General-Maternity District Hospital "Helena Venizelou” will be among the participants.<\/p>\n
\n\tAurora is a 3-year project which was launched in December 2010. Prolepsis participates as an associate partner in the project. It is implemented within the European Public Health Programme 2008-2013 of the Directorate General for Health and Consumers, with the kind support of KEELPNO. It aims to develop and disseminate innovative strategies for the prevention of cervical cancer targeting women of a reproductive age and ensuring the coverage of hard-to-reach populations. It addresses health professionals (experts in cancer prevention, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.),health care support service personnel (social workers, psychologists, cultural mediators), as well as community health services, NGOs, etc. Women unions\/associations and women belonging to minorities and immigrant groups are, also, the target groups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
