{"id":8103,"date":"2022-11-29T16:58:47","date_gmt":"2022-11-29T13:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.prolepsis.gr\/?page_id=8103"},"modified":"2022-12-01T17:46:49","modified_gmt":"2022-12-01T14:46:49","slug":"other-humanitarian-actions-of-the-institute","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.prolepsis.gr\/en\/content\/other-humanitarian-actions-of-the-institute\/","title":{"rendered":"Other humanitarian actions of the Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prolepsis Institute stands by the people suffering from any kind of crisis or natural disaster.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>After the catastrophic wildfires of eastern Attica (in July 2018) and, mainly through the mobilization of the volunteers\u2019 network, the Institute provided useful instructions and advice based on related recommendations by the\u00a0<b>American Center for Disease Control (CDC)<\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0<b>American Psychological Association (APA)<\/b>. The Institute was also regularly recording and providing information about the competent bodies, which people in need could turn to for assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Moreover, to the flood victims of the\u00a0<b>Mandra &#8211; Eidyllia Municipality<\/b>\u00a0the Institute provided\u00a0<b>food<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>necessities<\/b>, which were collected by partners, volunteers, and, mainly, friends of the Institute, in order to cover peoples\u2019 needs (December 22, 2017).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Part of the Institute\u2019s broader humanitarian action are also actions such as food distribution on\u00a0<b>Christmas 2017<\/b>\u00a0to students\u2019 families participating in the\u00a0<b>DIA<\/b>TROFI program and in a rather difficult financial situation.<\/li>\n<li>The Institute also participated in a different type of action with a highly humanitarian nature: the\u00a0<b>6th and 7th Crossing of Axion Hellas<\/b>\u00a0on the islands of\u00a0<b>Psara<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>Chios during October 19-23, 2018, and on the Dodecanese (Astypalaia, Tilos, Chalki and Kastelorizo) during April 6-14, 2019<\/b>.\u00a0<b>Members of the Institute\u2019s scientific team carried out<\/b>\u00a0informational and\u00a0<b>educational actions<\/b>\u00a0for the promotion of\u00a0<b>healthy nutrition<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>physical activity addressed to the students and their families living on Greece\u2019s borderline islands<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li><b>\u00a0<\/b>It should be noted that the Institute\u2019s humanitarian action has gained a global dimension as a result of the Institute\u2019s activities taking place outside the Greek borders. In\u00a0<b>February 2009<\/b>, with the motto\u00a0<b>\u201cHelp me Live\u201d<\/b>, the Institute held a special event aiming to raise money\u00a0<b>for the children of Gaza<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furthermore, in cooperation with local bodies and NGOs, the Institute has contributed to the\u00a0<b>reinforcement<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0<b>primary health care of developing countries\u2019 populations<\/b>\u00a0through the support of prevention and public health programs, the scientific support of existing structures, and educational exchanges of medical staff. Under this category of actions falls the 2004\u00a0<b>visit of the Institute\u2019s partners to Albania<\/b>, aiming to provide free of charge\u00a0<b>surgical and anaesthesia services<\/b>\u00a0to difficult medical cases and, at the same time, providing training to the Albanian scientists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":6437,"parent":8050,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"page-ereuna.php","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-8103","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.5 -
