- Promoting immunization among health professionals
Within the framework of the European project HProImmune in which Prolepsis Institute was leading partner, educational tools were developed, for the use of policy makers, aiming at adding to the knowledge on immunizations against certain infectious diseases. The objectives of the project were to address the matter of low immunization among health professionals in Europe and especially in Greece, evidenced by a potential influenza pandemic.
In response to measles epidemics in several European countries and the high number of cases that were recorded in Greece among the general public and health professionals in September 2017, Prolepsis Institute provided the Ministry of Health with all necessary information on measures for prevention of the disease and on vaccination aiming at raising awareness among health professionals. Furthermore, communications were broadcasted to the media in order to reach out to the general population. More information about the European project HProImmune can be found here.
- Increasing immunization coverage and enhancing information addressed to migrants and refugees on the importance of vaccination.
The problem of low immunization coverage and the lack of sufficient knowledge regarding vaccines among the migrant and refugee population within the European Union led to the development of various proposals on this matter. Prolepsis Institute coordinated the European Union’s PROMOVAX project. The recommendations developed were used by policy makers within the EU and the matter of low immunization coverage among migrant populations was addressed.
The toolkits developed within this project, are available in 8 languages for healthcare professionals and in 12 languages for migrants. Further details regarding PROMOVAX “Promote Vaccinations among Migrant Populations in Europe” can be found here.
