Word Environment Day is celebrated today, June 5, as every year. The theme of the Word Environment Day 2009 is "Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change" and expresses the need for common political decisions and strategies when dealing with climate change. In particular, the Word Environment Day 2009 aims to encourage citizens to become active agents of all forms of sustainable development, stress the significant role of communities in changing attitudes towards environmental issues and promote cooperation among nations for a better future.
