HUMANITARIAN ACTIONS

The Institute of Preventive Medicine, Environmental and Occupational Health, pursuing a wide range of interventions in the field of public health has developed a humanitarian agenda aiming at:

- supporting the primary health systems of developing countries, especially with organizing public health programmes in collaboration with local authorities and local Non Governmental Organizations. The objective of these actions is to complement existing infrastructure and service provision by providing scientific support and organizing training seminars and educational exchanges for medical professionals

- combating poverty and social exclusion through health promotion actions aiming at vulnerable groups such as children, women, refugees, immigrants, minorities and detained

Prolepsis Institute provides prison institutions with material and moral support and members of the Institute give lectures to prisoners (Female Prison of Koridallos). Prolepsis also supports the efforts of the Non Governmental Organization "Ark" providing medical and educational services with a network of volunteers as well as medical and pharmaceutical supplies.

Members of the Institute visit Albania and provide difficult surgical/anesthesiology services for free also providing training to Albanian scientists.

Prolepsis is registered with the National Record of Non Profit Organizations providing Social Care services, of the Ministry of Health (registration no. 0456), with the Hellenic Aid Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (registration no. 294). Prolepsis is also a member of the Hellenic Federation of Voluntary, Non Governmental Organizations (registration no. Φ.09).
